our saturday ritual

For the past five Saturdays, we've gotten up really early and been ON the beach by 8:00 am! It sounds crazy, but in order to get a spot on Assateague Island, we have to get there super early. We like to go to this spot because we drive there and the kids can run free. Today was a typical Saturday for us... digging holes, eating sandy sandwiches, and jumping like frogs in the water. The kids are really getting used to being out there and they are as happy as clams. I'll be very honest, I've felt very homesick this week & today helped!! A lot going on back home... my sweet niece, Cathryn, had her 3rd birthday party today and Davis said..."All my cousins going to be there?" HE LOVES HIS COUSINS.... I fought back tears knowing that they'd have many, many more to celebrate! Some days are so easy being up here, but some days we miss those that make us so happy! We are anticipating some very special visits from Mimi, Papa, and Nana in the next few weeks....and then it's home for a while in October. I also sat on the beach today and thanked god for this time in our life. A time that we didn't plan...and it's working out just perfect.

  1. Jenn,
That was our Saturday ritual growing up in Florida too until my sister and I got older and had our own things to do. I still remember those mornings. We all talk about how much fun we had having breakfast and lunch at the beach. I'm so glad you have this time - what an unexpected blessing!

  2. What a fun, relaxing way to spend your Saturdays! I hope that your homesick feelings are few and far between. At least they'll make your visits with family & friends that much sweeter!

  3. Jenn, just when I think I've read your sweetest post ever you go and blog another one. What precious memories you are making with Davis & Carson. Jack & I want to be there on the beach right alongside you guys. I'm trying to convince Josh we can handle flying alone.
I loved the last part about this being an unplanned adventure. I admire your bravery. August is half over so October will be here b/f you know it!!
