Not much happening here this week. Just the usual visits to the gym (ie: free childcare. Ha!) and storyhour groups across the county. We are hoping that the pretty Georgia snow stays to our west. We can just now see our driveway and yard...and we'd like to keep it that way. I've been thinking a lot today about the kids.
Wanted to jot down some cool things about my firstborn. He's just the greatest & honestly brings tears to my eyes on a daily basis. He's so much like his father...which I think is a very good thing.
He loves Classic Rock and Blues music. Begs for it in the car. Sways that little foot and taps his hand to the beat. Too cool to really be silly now, which is a little sad. He tells me he is getting "shy" as he gets older. I get that. So is Shane. And something about it makes me smile.
He LOVES being a big brother. Takes his job really serious. Very protective, yet isn't afraid to knock her to the ground to put her into her place. Sounds harsh, but sister needs that. And we're thankful Davis does have a little toughness to that tender heart.
He thinks the key to happiness is being "comfy". Loves to be in his jammies or his comfy clothes. Loves blankets & pillows. Even the trucks in his room have blankets at night.
Has completely given up a nap. Thank goodness he is so good & will stay in his room for a while. He loves to cut, read, and make big messes. Adores dinosaurs and playing pirates.
Davis really has such a tender heart. He loves to make cards & do fun things for people. This week we went to the Assateague Island visitor center and adopted a pony in honor of Mimi on her birthday. I can't tell you how excited he was about doing this. The pony's name is Sham. Ya know, in honor of our real home! We tried to find Sham roaming on the island, but we figured he must be hiding in the woods to stay warm.
Davis does have a super silly side, too. Telling jokes and making crazy faces are his favorites.
My favorite time with Davis is bedtime. I love to tell stories together and lately he's been on a "tell me five things you love about me, mama" kick. Just 5? I could go on and on. And, *I've said this before, and I hope to say it many times again...his cheeks STILL smell like sugar cookies. Clean or dirty it doesn't matter. It's the exact smell that i had everytime I sneezed when pregnant with him. Call me crazy, but it's true! Who knew that our hearts would swell like this as we became mothers. It sure is fun. Hard, but so fun.
Beautiful!

ReplyDeleteI am going to stop posting on here since everytime I love the posts better than the ones before...but really, I love these two. I love how different your kids are, but equally just perfect in their own way. That Davis and Sham the horse...I mean, precious. That Miss Sassy and her face in that one picture and her nakedness. I love her wearing D's shoes. She is a riot. Love you guys
